In compliance with the Company and external regulatory guidelines, policies and procedures, performs customer returns analysis and reporting; supports completion of First Article Inspection Reports; and provides leadership and training for associates within the manufacturing and inspection departments.

Assists in component level troubleshooting, and overall compliance to technical customer requirements assessments.

Provides overall measurement support to the factory process areas as well as R/I, First Articles, and In-Process evaluations.

REPORTS TO:   Quality Engineering Manager

  • Assists Quality Engineering in completing AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports, including, but not limited to, performing detailed measurements, gathering and copying material certifications, researching and documenting specifications and contractual requirements.
  • Performs on site customer Source Inspection when required.  Example is GE DSQR.
  • Provide and coordinate training to associates in Assembly, Soldering and Inspection, including J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, and NASA as required. Maintain certification records. Ensure compliance to  manufacturing and quality work instructions.
  • May create, maintain and train to new work instructions or other documentation.
  • Conduct periodic audits of manufacturing, engineering, and quality assurance areas to assure that the system complies with quality system requirements, including ISO 9001.
  • Makes inspection decisions using process sheets, inspection procedures, and blueprints both internal and customer based.
  • Assists Engineers, leads and supervisors processing Discrepant Material Notices and customer returns.
  • Assist with the development of procedures, inspection instructions, and manufacturing work orders to meet quality specifications and recommend changes when warranted. 
  • Interface with Quality Engineering Manager, Materials and Production Supervisors on issues regarding work priorities and production.

Keep facilities, materials and work area clean and organized, exercising care in their use.  Conforms to safety and inspection requirements. Actively seeks continuous process improvement.  Performs other duties as required and may be utilized in other areas and departments as workload dictates.  Client is ISO 9001 and AS 9100 registered; all job duties are to be performed per the appropriate Quality Management System instructions.

  • Associates Degree in Electronics or equivalent plus 3 years minimum of related experience in a high reliability electronic quality assurance related role
  • Military/Aerospace manufacturing background preferred
  • Certification to J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 preferred
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English
  • High aptitude for written and oral communication required
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook.
  • Team oriented with ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work under strict timelines to meet deadlines.  Availability to work overtime as needed
  • Must be able to successfully complete Certified Trainer coursework for J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, and NASA 8739.
  • Visual exams are required pre-hire and biennial to confirm visual acuity of 20/20 in one eye with or without glasses along with passing a standard color vision exam.  Must be able to perform job functions while using a scope.  Work is performed primarily in a sitting position.  Scheduled overtime may be required.
