Description
The SMT operator is responsible for various repetitive bench or line operations to mass-produce electronic assembly products.  Additionally, may be required to lead improvement teams and report productivity and/or process improvements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Follows written and/or verbal instructions and processes.
  2. Operates manufacturing equipment in accordance with correct procedures.
  3. Complies with EPA and OSHA codes and regulations; Adheres to proper safety practices in the performance of all tasks.
  4. Protects electronics components and assemblies from ESD damage through proper use of ESD protection equipment.
  5. Maintains a clean work environment by performing routine housekeeping tasks.
  6. Inputs ideas and concerns on procedures, processes, quality issues, safety issues, etc.
  7. Maintains designated takt time at multiple task operations (i.e. hand load more than 1 component).
  8. Inspect PCB Assemblies per IPC-610 (SMT and Thru-Hole Solder Joints).
  9. Correctly solder thru-hole and SMT components (per IPC-610 class 2).
  10. Perform basic manufacturing calculations (productivity, productivity score, cycle time, drop rate) and analyze manufacturing bottlenecks for productivity improvements.
  11. Performs basic maintenance procedures for SMT equipment and machine component identification.  Additionally, be able to identify, understand and observe SMT equipment safety precautions for maintenance procedures.  

Experience and Educational Requirements:
  1. 1-2 years’ experience in electronics manufacturing. 
  2. High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).

Minimum Skills, Knowledge & Ability Requirements:
  1. Knowledge of machine operation, process overview, basic quality requirements (i.e. quality policy, scrap disposition, 5S, etc.).
  2. Basic language Skills:  Ability to read English and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print/write the English language and speak simple English sentences.
  1. Reading Comprehension:  Ability to read, comprehend and execute work instructions.
  2. Basic Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  3. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions. 
  4. Ability to work well in a team environment.
