Position:  Team Lead - Controls Engineering

Oversee team of Controls Engineers in developing and implementing controls systems for a wide variety of automated equipment and mechanical machinery.  Estimated split of work responsibilities is 30% management/oversight of controls team members and projects and 70% doing controls engineering work.

Engineer will meet with customers, gather requirements, develop work breakdowns and cost / schedule estimates, , sell clients on our proposal/quotation, communicate project status as work progresses, etc….

Controls engineering work will include design, test, and commission controls, software, and data acquisition systems.  This will be a blend of hardware and software engineering work.  Projects will include controls design for automation equipment and mechanical machinery such as tabletop assembly stations, automated assembly, inspection gauge processes, pick and place, drive upgrades, safety guarding, packaging equipment, web line handling machine, etc….

Required:
  • Minimum 5 years controls design / engineering experience
Desired proficiency in some or all of below areas:
  • Designing control panels, cabling, and conduit runs
  • PLC programming using Studio 5000 Logix Designer (Allen-Bradley, Siemens plus)
  • HMI programming (FactoryTalk, Wonderware, Cimplicity)
  • Developing electrical schematics (AutoCAD Electrical, Eplan, Solidworks, Creo, Zuken E3)
  • Defining hardware specifications
  • Specifying drive systems (Servo, VFD, Stepper)
  • Developing BOMs (Bill of Materials) and general understanding of routing in client ERP system
  • Robot simulation and offline programming (Process Simulate, Roboguide, Delmia, etc.)
  • Experience with robotic applications, visions systems, welding, and fluid power system components is a plus
**  Looking for candidates that have done controls design for NEW systems – not individuals whose experience was primarily doing controls upgrades/maintenance on existing systems.
  • BS Electrical Engineering/ Computer Science or related field
Will consider AAS in fields like Automation Technology, Robotics, Systems Engineering.
  • Willing to travel to commission machines as needed
