General Characteristics:
Performs assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities
Performs tasks designed to develop a working knowledge of applicable building codes and industry standards
Acquires an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
Uses judgement to make minor adaptations and modifications to standard procedures
Assignments have clear and specific objectives and require investigations of a limited number of variables
Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position or equivalent graduate level education
 
Technical Responsibilities and Duties:
Performs work that involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment
Works on small projects or portions of large projects
 Performs work for which there are precedents and with relatively few complex features
 Prepares specifications, works on studies, writes reports, and works on assignments of limited scope
 Knowledgeable about the principles and techniques commonly employed in the specific narrow area of assignments
 Performs and directs field work
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
BS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school or experience equivalent to a BS degree in engineering
5-10 year’s experience in heavy industrial related design
Must be registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE)
 
Required Skills:
Knowledge of applicable building codes and industry standards
Ability to analyze and design steel support structures
Ability to analyze and design concrete foundations
Strong commitment to safety
Experience with Analysis Software such as SAP2000, Visual Analysis, and SAFE desirable
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office
Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-discipline team
Strong verbal and written communication
