PDS Tech Inc., is seeking a Resident Engineer in Troy, MI.

Manage and take the lead in resolving cross-functional process and technical issues in a proactive manner both within their company and between their company and client. Release assigned parts into the client’s system. Takes direction from Lead Component Engineer. Responsible for leading the team that executes the many tasks required to design, develop and validate a subsystem for production. This role is highly leveraged or “matrixed”, and requires the engineer to be a technically capable individual that can get work done by others in their organization.

  • Co-Facilitate subsystem/component Product Development, Design, and other teams for reviews.
  • Supports related system Peer Reviews (i.e. HMI, Fascia interface, CAN, wiring harness, etc.)
  • Complete Component Technical Specification for their subsystem or component when required by the SOW
  • Initiate change requests as appropriate (when given responsibility for CTS maintenance)
  • Assist with the definition of system / Hardware requirements
  • Incorporation of product and process design best practices and lessons learned
  • Responsible for subsystem/component technical decisions (subject to approval by Client’s Lead Engineer)
  • Key contact for electrical component questions
  • Support vehicle build process and vehicle signoff activities for all prototypes and manufacturing builds.
  • (Virtual/Mule/Structural/Integration/Manufacturing/Production)
  • Provide technical guidance for development of timing and Analysis, Development and Validation (ADV) plans
  • Maintain a file on site of schematics, circuit board layouts, source code, S/W algorithms, DFMEAs, specifications, to assist in expeditious resolution of all issues
  • Responsible for Packaging of released components. Requires coordination between supplier and client or Tier 1
  • Designers Lead required Design Center activities like packaging, graphics development, etc. (HVAC, RPA, Night Vision, Rear Vision)
  • Supports Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) activities
  • Supports system DFMEA process
  • Supports development of Learning ADV subplan
  • Order parts to support build events when requested. 
  • Initiate math data transfer into client’s system and supports population into the Vehicle Assembly Structure (VAS)
  • Develop and input Interface Control Documents (ICDs) as appropriate (Lead reviews and approves)
  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution on defined anomalies.
  • Support assembly plant or Tier 1 build events and development events
  • Resolve issues on assigned component technical specification sections
  • Update vehicles with latest production intent components and SW
  • Determine and investigate design alternatives with supplier
  • Determine and investigate mechanization alternatives
  • Assist with the resolution of system issues
  • Lead root cause and resolution to verification and test incidents (Bench or Vehicle verification)
  • Inputs answers into Problem Resolution Tracking System (Lead reviews and approves)
  • Inputs answers into Vehicle Incident Non Conformance Record system (Lead reviews and approves)
  • Develops entries into Program System Status and other 8Ds (Lead reviews and approves)
  • Supports development of Service Plan (Lead reviews and approves)
  • Supports bench and other development activities
  • Develops Owner Manual Verbiage/Graphics as appropriate
  • Support assembly plant problem resolution process
  • Project Management Leadership
  • Supports the PDT timing plan for the subsystem (Timing Analyst is lead)
  • Coordinate necessary communication meetings between their company and client.
  • Facilitate and expedite the processing of change requests
  • Develop a software plan with supplier software team. Maintain and communicate the software plan, including
  • software content and timing, with the client.
  • Supports supplier developed project plans accordingly.
  • Represent client’s position when communicating with their company
  • Ensure component hardware delivery requirements are met
  • Initiate subsystem and component releases in conformance with program timing
  • Develop problem resolution action plans for subsystem/component issues
  • Initiate DFMEA/PFMEA processes (supplier)
  • Coordinate with supplier the software delivery requirements and priorities (Lead reviews and approves)
  • Follows all appropriate ISO work instructions
  • Maintains Client’s Business Records in accordance with Information Lifecycle Management guidelines
  • Bachelor's Degree in electronics / electrical engineering or advanced degree
  • More than 6 years of professional work experience
  • Have 6 years in OEM or tiered supplier experience
  • Must have achieved recognized standing in professional field through original contribution.
  • Has exhibited the ability to lead successful completion of complex projects.
  • Experience with RF development / technology
  • Automotive Engineering or Program Management experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
