Job Summary:
This position partners with functional leaders to understand the current state and develop strategic plans to achieve a dramatically improved future state that aligns with Company goals and objectives. Schedules Kaizen opportunities into a calendar of Kaizen events and projects that maximize the leverage of Continuous Improvement resources.  Trains, coaches and mentors others at all organizational levels to apply Continuous Improvement methodologies to improve business processes and achieve Continuous Improvement objectives.  Drives a Continuous Improvement culture by training, coaching and mentoring others in managing processes for daily improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works with all functional disciplines and organizational levels in determining and executing a Kaizen event and project schedule that supports the achievement of Company strategic goals and objectives and maximizes the allocation of scarce resources.
  • Partners with functional leaders to develop Lean future state visions and develop strategic deployment plans that translate those visions into reality.
  • Serves all levels of the organization as a Lean Enterprise topical expert and internal consultant.
  • Coaches, manages and develops Continuous Improvement Leaders.
  • Defines and assembles multi-disciplinary teams for the execution of Kaizen events and projects throughout the business.
  • Ensures the completion of all preparation work necessary to support successful Kaizen events or projects such as scheduling process downtime and securing support of other functions such as Maintenance and IT.
  • Defines and delivers appropriate training for Kaizen events and project teams that ensure team members have the knowledge required for project success.
  • Leads Kaizen events and other project teams in the implementation of Lean Enterprise principles throughout the business, its suppliers, and customers.
  • Provides Kaizen event and project follow-up to ensure achievement and sustainment of the required results.
  • Trains all organizational levels in the principles, tools, and practices of Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI).
  • Performs on-going checks to insure best practice implementation, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Continuously drives improvement within their area of responsibility by having in improved future-state vision, setting goals that move toward that vision and taking the actions required to achieve those goals.
  • Demonstrates effectivity and sustainability of Kaizen events or other CI activities via results scorecards based on cost, quality, delivery and safety.
  • Implementing and supports Continuous Improvement throughout the organization.

Education and Experience
  •  B.A. or B.S. Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a related manufacturing environment with machine shop and sheet metal fabrication experience; or 10+ plus years of process/continuous improvement experience in manufacturing, preferably aerospace. 
  • 10+ years’ experience in a management position preferred.

  • Ability to conduct time observations, takt time calculation, line balancing, workstation design, visual management, and standardized work.
  • Experience gathering and analyzing data to arrive at root cause analysis and formulating countermeasures and long term solutions.
  • Successful history of planning and executing rapid continuous improvement or kaizen events.
  • Exhibits strong planning, organization, and analytical skills; capable of multitasking.
  • Must possess excellent facilitation skills to energize diverse teams to participate constructively towards an assigned outcome.
  • Communicates across organizational levels (written and verbally) in a fair, respectful and constructive manner.
  • Extensive background in manufacturing processes/methodologies/technologies.
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality standards, systems and processes.
  • Proficient with related manufacturing computer systems/software (Microsoft Applications).
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Able to oversee the work of assigned team members that are not direct reports; ensuring they are effectively working towards a team goal.
  • Requires 5-7 years team management experience in a continuous improvement driven organization.
